Emelie "Emily" Finzel passed away exactly six weeks after her husband Gus Finzel had died. She had just had her 66th birthday. Emelie was a lifelong resident, born and raised in Monroe, Monroe County, Mi. the daughter of John Casper and Katherine Zeh Gutmann. Both of her parents were born in Germany. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She married Gustave Finzel on June 22, 1898. Emelie had been in poor health for sometime, but because of the shock of her husband's death, she succumbed to a heart attack. Her only son, Theron, daughter-in-law and granddaughter had arrived in Monroe, to spend Thanksgiving, and were with her at the time of her death at Mercy Hospital. Survivors of Emelie were two brothers, Fred C. and William Gutmann, and one sister Kate Wagner of Monroe. Her parents preceded her in death. Burial was November 28, 1932.
