Eusebio Lopez, 83, of Caldwell, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday 26, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at First Southern Baptist Church, Caldwell with viewing prior to services from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Eusebio "Chevo" was born June 16, 1930 in Rotan, Texas to Virginia (Castro) and Eusebio Lopez, Sr. Chevo was raised on the farmlands of west Texas, later moving to the Rio Grande Valley before settling in Caldwell, in the 1940's. He was a carpenter by trade and a firefighter for BLM for over 25 years. After his retirement, he continued to work during harvest time for Crookham Seed Company until the age of 72.
"Tio Chevo" as he was known to many of his relatives, was a patriarch of the Lopez family. He cared for his mother until her passing in 1983. Though he never married, he did raise one niece as his own daughter.
His favorite pastimes were fishing and gardening.
Chevo is survived by his daughter, Nora G. (Arturo) Guzman; 4 grandchildren, Nina, Aaron, Naomi and Nilda; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Juanita Ozuna and Virginia Villareal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Rest in peace until we meet again, Grandpa.
