Samuel died in 1908 in California. She was the mother of seven children: (1) Elizabeth "Lizzie" Marchant born July 10, 1857 and died July 26, 1903 as Mrs. Henry Harry Shallenberger; (2) Amzi Marchant born Aug 1859 and died Sept. 15, 1859 either in Ohio or Vermilion Co., Ill. (He was named after her father); (3)Ira Lincoln Marchant born Aug. 29, 1860 near Rossville, Vermillion Co., Ill., and died Jan. 19, 1959 in Santa Ana, Los Angeles, Cal.; (4) John H. Marchant born abt 1862 in Vermilion Co., Ill., and died April 20, 1884 and is buried at the Jaggar Cem., Danville, Des Moines Co., Iowa; (5) Silas Chase Marchant born 6 Mar 1865 in Vermilion Co., Ill., and died Nov. 3, 1904 in Los Angeles Co., Cal., (6)Dora E. Marchant born abt 1867 Vermillion Co., Ill., and died June 14, 1877 in Des Moines Co., Iowa-buried Jaggar Cem. near Danville, DMC, Iowa.

It is unknown where Harriet is buried, but since she died during the summer months it is guessed that the burial was at this location. The local papers are not available for this time period as yet nothing found on her burial site or that of son Amzi Marchant.
