Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating the service will be Rev. Jonathan Stern with burial to follow in the Knollwood Memorial Gardens.
She was born January 24, 1913, in Manitowoc, Wis., daughter of the late Herman and Minnie Peters Johansen . She married Frederick H. Brey on January 22, 1944, in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1965. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1930 and was employed with the Manitowoc Public Utilities through 1944. She also was employed with United States Housing Department from 1944-1952 and as a Nurses Aide at the Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc from 1956 until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Ladies Aide and a member of the Lutheran High School Ladies Guild.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Carol Brey of Manitowoc, MSgt's. Charles and Charlene Brey of Hampton, Va.; one daughter, Christine L. Niven of Manitowoc; three grandchildren, Jesse Brey, Stacey Brey and Steven Brey, all of Manitowoc; a brother and sister-in-law, Edmund and Mildred Johansen of Manitowoc; a sister, Clara Kercher of Manitowoc; nieces, nephes, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry, Raymond, Elmer and George Johansen and a son-in-law, Melvin Niven.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Hmoe Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday morning at the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
