GEORGE B. JOHANSEN

George B. Johansen, 71, of 1806 Wollmer St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 21, at his home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Larry Ellenberger will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Johansen was born Feb. 5, 1911, at Manitowoc, son of the late Herman and Minnie Algrim Johansen. He was educated at First German School and was a 1929 graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. He married Dorothy M. Herzog, June 6, 1936, at Manitowoc. Mr. Johansen was retired from Aluminum Specialty Company in 1975 after 49 years and nine months, where he was employed as traffic manager. He served as business manager and secretary for Manitowoc Braves Sports Association in the direction of football and baseball programs. He coached youth softball and football, and also served as umpire in the major league softball of Manitowoc. Mr. Johansen was a charter member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a member of Lakeshore Traffic Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son and daughter-in-law, George R. and Gail Johansen of Decatur, Ala.; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Henry Ohlrogge of Route 1, Manitowoc; two brothers, Harry and Ruth Johansen of Brimington, Wash., and Edmund and Mildred Johansen of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Kerscher and Mrs. Edna Brey of Manitowoc; seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Raymond.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Thursday evening. Memorials may be made to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.
