Confusion Regarding Her Mother's Maiden Name
In researching the family tree of Andrew Nelson, there seems to be an issue that some resources have conflicting notes regarding the maiden name of Andrew's wife.
Some note that his wife's name was Mary Dunmire, others sources record it as Mary Swank. The question becomes is one of the names incorrect or did Andrew Nelson have two different wives?
Three of Andrew's children who lived into the 1900s have their mother's name listed as Mary Swank. Those children include Elizabeth Jane Nelson Gray (1821-1909), William G. Nelson (1824-1908), and Hannah Nelson Smith (1837-1920).
Based on this information, I feel confident in assuming any child of Andrew's born between 1821-1837 shared Mary Swank as their mother. Further, in being in contact with other researchers of this family, it is my opinion that all of Andrew's children were mothered by Mary Swank and not Mary Dunmire.

Upon close inspection of that biography, it features several errors. I am inclined to believe that the Dunmire surname is also incorrect, as well. Of note, the grandson William G. (mentioned above) is also mentioned in that biography as being Andrew's son, and it is clear from his death certificate that his mother was Mary SWANK, and not Mary Dunmire.
