86 year old Cynthia Laura Benson Olsen passed away peacefully at home on Friday morning, January 12, 1996.

Humorous and sassy to the very end, she was born in Moreland, Idaho on December 22, 1909 to Alva Henry Benson and Lorena England, the second of seven children. Her April 24, 1935 marriage to Mars Fairen Olsen produced three sons, Benson E. Olsen (wife Kimi) of Orange, Calif.; M. Dirk Olsen (wife Daryl) of Sandy, Utah; and Lew B. Olsen, deceased in 1981, (wife Susan) of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is also survived by her two brothers, Lynn Benson, (wife Fern) of Rigby, Idaho; and Rex Benson (wife Lorna) of Ogden, Utah. Preceded in death by her husband and four dear sisters, Emma, Fern, Eunice and Alva. Also remaining here to treasure her memory and carry on her legacy of caring, sharing, fairness, devotion, and hard work are 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and numbers of nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the DUP and a staunch LDS woman, serving primarily in the area of music. As a professional nurse she worked tirelessly on behalf of others her entire life, making it difficult to accept her own need for care during the past five months. For that loving, competent, and dignified care, we as Cynthia's family and friends extend our heartfelt gratitude to Coca Carter and Gabrielle Webster, and to the Lord for helping us find them when they were so needed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 1996, Sandy 1st Ward, 8650 South 220 East, with a viewing one hour prior to services at the ward and the evening before from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State. Interment will at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy. If you have a particularly fond memory of Cynthia, please jot it down for our memory book and give it to a family member at the funeral where we will be joining together in celebration of her life.
