DENMARK, Wis. – Sam Finnel, 78, died at his home in Denmark Wednesday afternoon. He had been ill two years. He was born in the town of New Denmark Oct. 22, 1875, on the homestead now occupied by his son, Donald. He farmed there until his retirement five years ago, when the family built a new home in Denmark. He married the former Mary Keehan Nov. 5, 1907.
Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clement Heiser, Green Bay; four sons, Donald and James, on the home farm, Kenneth of Denmark, Rt. 2, and Francis, Jacksonville, Fla., and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Finnel was a member of the Holy Name Societies of All Saints Church and St. James Church, Cooperstown. The body is at the new De Wane Funeral Home where the rosary will be said at 8 o'clock Thursday and Friday evenings.
The Rev. C. A. Dionne will offer the solemn requiem High Mass in All Saints Catholic Church at 9:30 Saturday morning. The Rev. W. T. Williams and the Rev. Lambert D. Scanlan will assist. Burial will be in the family lot in St. James Cemetery, Cooperstown.
