Early Life: Lynn was born June 21, 1942, in Great Falls, Montana, to Earl Watt and Cora Aerial Klinger Stanard; the second of their three children. She graduated from Great Falls High in 1960.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: In 1963, she graduated from Brigham Young University with high honors in Elementary Education and taught 1st grade for one year after her graduation. She married Gerald N. Lund, her best friend and the love of her life, on June 5, 1963 in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jerry and Lynn devoted their lives to their family which now consists of seven children, 29 grandchildren, nine 1/2 great-grandchildren, and 11 who have joined their family through marriage, giving them a total posterity of 56 and counting! Lynn loved nothing more than gathering her family close to her, feeding them their favorite foods (her cooking), and taking innumerable pictures of her "darling" grandchildren whom she loved to dress in matching outfits. She was a gifted musician and well-known as Lynn S. Lund, a bestselling LDS composer, who wrote and arranged over 300 pieces of published music that have been sung and played around the world. Her dedication to family and music were rooted in her deep and abiding faith in the Lord. She enjoyed countless hours of service in the ward and stake Young Women and Relief Society organizations. Lynn felt a deep connection to her ancestors and spent many hours researching their lives, stories and histories. She passed the legacy of family history onto her children who continue her work. Lynn also faithfully served many years beside her husband in his callings including their service in the area presidency of the Europe West Area from 2003 to 2006. Retta "Lynn" Stanard Lund died peacefully in her home in Alpine, Utah, surrounded by her loving family on June 10, 2014.
Survived By: Her husband; six children and their families: the Dobsons (Cyndie, Derek and seven children), the Stoddards (Julie, Theron and seven children), the Lunds (Steve, Annette and four children), the Lunds (Lori, Cid and two children), the Bellistons (Rebecca, Troy and five children), and the Lunds (Matt, Ali and four children); her grandchildren and great-grand children; and her siblings: Carole Lee Stanard Abercrombie and James Earl Stanard. She will be dearly missed.
