BOUNTIFUL, UT – We bid farewell today to our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend.

Four weeks and four days after celebrating her 80th birthday, Carole passed peacefully in her home to a joyous reunion with her parents, brother, sister and her sweet husband Chuck.

Her tender childhood family is together again at last. Carole’s testimony of Christ was expressed so thoroughly through her humility, generosity, and gentleness.

We are sure she will continue to share of her testimony and spirit with those on the other side. She was an angel on earth.

Carole was born in Helena, Montana on November 12, 1940 and was the first child to Earl Watt Stanard and Cora Aerial Klingler.

Stories of growing up in Montana were filled with memories of Lynn, Jim, and bike rides around the block to dry perfect hair curls.

Each of the Stanard children were blessed with a talent for music.

Carole was a proficient pianist and taught piano lessons for over 40 years to countless students.

She served as ward and temple organist for most of her life and could be found at the piano many Sunday evenings playing for family sing-alongs.

Carole met her sweetheart, Charles Leon Abercrombie, when studying at Brigham Young University. Together they had 11 children.

While raising her family, Carole got her degree in nursing and went on to serve a multitude of moms and babies in her 27 years as a neonatal nurse at the University of Utah Hospital.

Carole loved to care for her neighbors and family by gathering together as often as possible.

Evenings at the Abercrombie household were filled with food, family, and fond memories.
