Edgar Sr. is in the 1910 Census in Lancaster but died sometime between then and 1916 and he is not listed as a survivor in the obituary of Edgar Jr.
Bertha later married Frederick Locke

Edgar B. Read, son of Mrs. Bertha (Powl) Read, died shortly after 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon from infantile paralysis, after an illness due to that cause since last Saturday. This case was a particularly serious one according to Dr. C. Howard Witmer, county medical inspector, who diagnosed it as one of the child scourge yesterday afternoon.
The child's entire body was paralyzed, the doctor said.
The little victim was only in the fourth year of his age and besides the mother he is survived by one brother, Richard, and one sister, Jeanette [Janet].
Undertakers Cannon and Long took charge of the body and private funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Powl, the child's grandparents, No. 12 West Li erty street.
