Mrs. Bertha Powl Read Locke, 92, of Episcopal Home, 206 E. Burd St, Shippensburg, formerly of Lancaster, died Saturday at Carlisle Hospital.
Born in Landis Valley, Mrs. Locke was the daughter of the late Samuel and Fianna Frick Powl.
Mrs. Locke was a retired Lancaster city assistant school cook and assistant cafeteria director for the Lancaster YWCA.
She was the widow of Frederick Clifford Locke and a member of St. James' Episcopal Church, Lancaster.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Janet DeSha, Tampa, Fla.; a granddaughter, a grandson and five great-grandchildren.
