Funeral services for Ruby Jean Jinkins, 63, of Lufkin, will be held in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Geye officiating. Interment will follow in Berry Cemetery.
Mrs. Jinkins was born July 1, 1950 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Clarine (Brimer) Akridge and the late Virgil Akridge. She died Friday, June 13, 2014 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Jinkins was employed as a Food Service Manager with Lufkin I.S.D. for 27 years, and also loved to cook for her family. She would drive miles to watch her grandchildren play baseball, softball and basketball. She also loved family vacations in the RV. Mrs. Jinkins had lived in Lufkin for the past 48 years.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David Jinkins of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, David, Jr. and Melanie Jinkins of Spring, Michael and Julie Jinkins of Huntington, and Jamie and Leslie Jinkins of Lufkin; grandchildren, Brooklyn Jinkins, Carter Jinkins, Kaitlin Jinkins, Jarrod Jinkins, Kierstin Jinkins, Kindyn Jinkins and Kaison Jinkins; mother, Clarine Akridge of Nacogdoches; mother-in-law, Lottie Jinkins of Nacogdoches; sisters and brothers-in-law, Odell and Tommy Renfro of Chireno, Pat and Floyd King of Lufkin, and Margaret and Ronnie Teets of Corrigan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl Ray and Donna Akridge of Martinsville, Harlan and Terri Akridge of Center, Virgil Lynn and Luci Akridge of El Paso, and Jim Akridge of Nacogdoches; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Jinkins was also preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Akridge.
