Dorothy J. Harrigan of Levittown passed away Monday, March 29, 2010. She was 81.

She was born to Isaiah and Mary Ashbridge and raised in Lost Creek, Pa. After graduating from West Mahaony Township High School, she moved to Philadelphia, where she became an operator for Bell of Pennsylvania.

In 1946, she married William E. Harrigan Jr. They moved to Levittown in 1960.

Dorothy was a certified teacher of ceramics, having taken more than 60 courses. She was a recipient of the Irma Duncan Award and also won awards at the Bucks County Ceramic Guild annual competitions. Dorothy was a member and former treasurer of Tullytown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, sewing, gardening, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, reading, cooking and solving puzzles.

She was a member of Emmaus Road Lutheran Church in Fairless Hills.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband in 1985. She is survived by her children, William F. Harrigan and his companion, Lori Swank, of Levittown, Helen Borsting and her husband, Eric, of Stockton, Calif., Linda Davis and her husband, Mitch, of Levittown, and Edward Harrigan and his wife, Lisa, of Bensalem; her grandchildren, Heather and her husband, Ron, Morgan, Elizabeth; and her great-granddaughter, Libi.

Relatives and friends are invited to Dorothy's life celebration from 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, followed by her memorial service 11 a.m. at Beck/Givnish of Lower Bucks, 7400 New Falls Road, Levittown. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dorothy's name to Emmaus Road Lutheran Church, 520 Hood Blvd., Fairless Hills, PA 19030 or to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated. Beck/Givnish,
