Patricia Russ Bullis, age 63, of North Pine Avenue, passed from this life on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Albany Medical Center. Born on June 27, 1942 in Albany, she was the daughter of Alfred and Ardath Davis Russ. A lifelong resident of Albany, she graduated from Albany High School in 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, James (Jim) Bullis on June 30, 1962 in St. Mary's Church. Pat was a trusted and respected member of the business community and was well known for her expertise in the retail clothing industry. She worked in several area shops, most notably Lil n' Lou's, where she worked for 22 years until the store closed and, later, M. Solomon Furs in Colonie where she served as manager of the Colonie Center store. Most recently, and just prior to her retirement, she was employed by Maternity for Less on Wolf Road. She left that post to spend more time with her grandchildren. In 1989, Pat and Jim opened LaStella Restaurant in Guilderland and operated the eatery until 1991. Their customers became their friends and always found, in Pat, a most gracious host. With her husband, she was a member of Crescent Boat Club and she loved spending summer days with her family and friends aboard their boat, the Pattie B. She also loved vacationing in Maine and Cape Cod, especially with her son and his family, and delighted in the simple pleasures of life. Pat was gifted with the ability to take care of everyone she knew and to nurture and protect those she loved. She was dedicated to her family and provided care to her mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and father-in-law before their passing. She was a frequent visitor to elderly friends and acquaintances and looked to their needs, either in their own homes or in care facilities. Her grandchildren were the joys of her life and she was a regular presence at their school activities, sporting events, and dance recitals. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband's parents, Mary and Charles Bullis, and her brother-in-law, Charles John Bullis. Her daughter-in-law, Patricia, passed with her on December 22. Her living family includes her husband, James Bullis; one son, James Bullis; three granddaughters, Lauren Marie Shea, Alexandra (Ali) Faith Bullis and Katherine (Katie) Leigh Bullis; three brothers-in-law, John Bullis and his wife Vicki, Joseph Bullis and his wife Carol and Michael Bullis; one sister-in-law, Renee Bullis; one sister, Beverly Sesselman and her husband Neil; nieces and nephews, Christopher Bullis, Chuck Bullis, Benay Bullis, Joe Bullis, Brian Bullis, Tammy Bullis, Kim Rauh, Jillian Bullis, Casey Bullis, Rosemarie Gardner, Debra McDonald, Terrie MacCalus, John Sanders, Patricia Sanders, Brian Sesselman, Dan Sesselman; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany.
