She married Jay T. Young on March 21, 1952, in Bentonville, Ark. He died on June 12, 1988. Ruby was a volunteer for the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary in the Gift Shop, Elmdale Pioneer Senior Center, Delos V. Smith Senior Center, and R.S.V.P. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include: brother, Jess A. Bishop of Hutchinson; nieces, Connie Constant, Christine Rounds, Wilma Cross, Phyllis Thompson, all of Hutchinson, Carol Heisler of Kingman, Jessie Turner of Nolanville, Texas; nephews, Nelson Metzler Jr. and Lott Metzler, both of Hutchinson; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Wesley V. Bishop; half brothers, William O. Metzler, Nelson Metzler Sr., Jack Metzler; niece, Ellen Osborn; and a nephew, Wayne V. Bishop.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Robert Albin presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
