.5, Thomas, the eldest son and heir, died about the year 1637, and was buried at Burford, in Shropshire, leaving by Mary, daughter of Sir Thomas Cornwall, Baron of Burford, in Shropshire, five sons, 1, Compton, of whom hereafter; 2, Edward, of Ipeden, in Oxfordshire, Esq. who married four wives, but left issue only by two, 1, Jane, daughter to Thomas Acton, of Bockleton, in Worcestershire; 2, Elizabeth, daughter of John Allen, of Streatly, in Berkshire, Esqrs.; 3, Thomas, of Apleford, in Berks, Esq. who married Anne, daughter and coheiress of Henry Knapp, of Oxford, Esq. and had a numerous issue; 4, Cornwall; and 5, Geoffrey, who both died without issue; also four daughters, Anne, wife of Thomas, son and heir of Sir Gilbert Cornwall, Baron of Burford; Catharine, of Budgestock Hertford, of Hereford, Gent.; Bridget, who died without issue ; and Mary, of John, third son of Sir Gilbert Cornwall.
