John Beattie of Melville, Saskatchewan died of tuberculosis at Lenham, Maidstone, Kent, England. John was working as a watchman and fireman when he enlisted at Melville late in 1914 (he had earlier lived at Saltcoats). He married Elizabeth Sarah (Campbell) of London in 1917.
