He married Susan Smith on January 4, 1844 in Morgan County.
They had fourteen children.
After their marriage, they lived near Arenzville. About 1858, they moved to the Ebenezer neighborhood and remained there until 1891 relocating to Jacksonville.
Survived by his wife; eleven children (names not stated); a brother, David Angel of Chapin; and two sisters: Mrs. Martha Smith and Mrs. Mary Wenger, both of Emporia, Kanasas.
