Charlie worked in one of his father's many enterprises as a swamp foreman and logging camp manager. Charlie married Eveline Bowman Williams on November 1, 1900 in Berwick. She was the sister of his brother George's wife, Sidney. By 1920, he had bought a home in Pt. Arthur, Texas where he was employed at the Gulf Oil refinery. Although his children remained in Pt. Arthur, he moved back to his childhood home in Berwick by 1930. It appears he and his wife Effie had separated. She and her sister Sidney (the estranged wife of Charlie's brother George) moved together to Vernon, LA. Charlie never remarried, returning to Pt. Arthur to be with his children who all worked and lived there with their families. He died at age 83 and is buried in Berwick.
