He played Major league baseball as a 2nd Baseman for 11 seasons (1905, 1907 to 1916) for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Chicago Cubs of the National League, and the Baltimore Terrapins of the Federal League. From 1907 to 1913 he was the starting 2nd baseman for the Phillies, appearing in over 800 games for them in that span. His career totals were 1,278 Games Played, 1,103 Hits, 8 Home Runs, 365 Runs Batted in, and a career .247 Batting Average.
