OWENSBORO MESSENGER INQUIRER OBITUARY - 07/18/2014
Mary Virginia "Gin" Carrico, 89, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Carmel Home. She was born December 8, 1924, in Daviess County to the late David Ollie & Mary Lucy Hagan Boarman. She was formerly employed with General Electric and St. Stephen Cathedral cafeteria. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. Mrs. Carrico enjoyed playing cards, gardening, crocheting and traveling in her retirement years. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edwin Carrico, in 1994; one son, Samuel Lee Carrico; two daughters, Carol Roby and Lucy Goetz; three brothers, Mike, Andy & Bill Boarman; and three sisters, Rose Wedding, Joan Woolen and Ollie Boarman. Surviving are seven sons, Pat (Charlene) Carrico of Utica, David (Judy) Carrico and Phillip Carrico, both of Owensboro, Rick "Rico" Carrico of Knottsville, and Mark (Mary Alice) Carrico, Frank (Michelle) Carrico, and Chris (Jamie) Carrico, all of Owensboro; four daughters, Jeanette (Eddie) Smith of Stanley, Judy Bielefeld of Owensboro, Karen (Greg) Gilmore of Knottsville and Janice (Bill) Walker of Owensboro; 41 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at noon Saturday at St. Stephen Cathedral with the Rev. Jerry Riney officiating. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Daughters of Isabella will have rosary along with parish prayers at their regular meeting. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
