Carol Carrico Roby, 57, of Beaver Dam passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Carol was born on Jan. 9, 1953, in Owensboro to the late Charles E. Carrico and her surviving mother Mary Virginia Carrico. She was a member of the Catholic Church and a graduate of Mount St. Joseph. Carol loved playing games with family and friends. She loved to paint, but most of all loved her animals on "Born Free," the farm she called home. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sam Carrico. Carol is survived by her husband of 11 years, James Herman Roby; her children, Beth Hurm Hatchett of Rockport, Ind., and Sherri Hurm of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Jonathyn, Sydney and McKenzie Hatchett; siblings Pat (Charlene) Carrico, Jeanette (Eddie) Smith, Lucy (Tom) Goetz, David (Judy) Carrico, Phil Carrico, Judy Bielefeld, Mark (Mary Alice) Carrico, Frank (Michelle) Carrico, Janice (Bill) Walker, Rick Carrico, Chris (Jamie) Carrico and Karen (Greg) Gilmore; and many nieces and nephews. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephens Catholic Church, with Father Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Knottsville. Visitation will be held at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
