Joseph F. Haas, 70, a lifelong resident of Taus (Rt. 1, Cato), died unexpectedly early Saturday afternoon, August 1, 1987 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Saur Funeral home and 10:30- a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church, Kellnersville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Francis Reinke and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Haas was born December 1, 1916 in the Town of Franklin, son of the late Joseph and Mary Lensmeyer Haas. He married the former Evelyn Jahorik on October 27, 1937 at St. Anne Catholic church, Francis Creek. The couple operated a tavern at Taus from 1937 � 1955. He was also employed at Manitowoc Engineering for 24 years, retiring in 1979. Mr. Haas was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Church and also an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Marvin and Joan Haas of Clarks Mills and Dale Haas of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Maxine Haas of New Berlin and Marlene and Gary Grall of Whitelaw; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Mayme Haas of Rt. 2, Cato; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mrs. Marie DeNoble of Rt. 2, DePere, Viola and Ray Habermann of Chilton, Mrs. Leona Masar of Manitowoc and Archie Dugan of Reedsville; six grandchildren, Lynn Schneider, Randy and Lori Haas, Tracie Jaeger and Todd and Tara Grall; three great grandchildren, Kristin and Chad Schneider and Justine Jaeger. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Clarence and two sisters, Ann Helfert and Agnes Dugan.
Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday to the time of services. Prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday by Father Reinke and Holy Name Society Rosary at 8 p.m.
