Sam Bond, 72, passed away February 21, 2005. Sam had a long association with the Missouri Valley Line Constructors and Southwest Line Constructors, one that spanned 30 years. Sam retired in 2001 as Chapter Manager of both Missouri Valley and Southwest Chapters. Sam's connection with Missouri Valley began back in 1971 when he was the Accredited Representative to the Chapter from PAR Electric, Capital Electric, and Power Constructors. Sam was an active member of Missouri Valley, serving on the Board of Directors from 19741986. He held numerous positions during that time, including three terms as Vice President/Treasurer and one term each as President and Governor. His involvement reached beyond the Missouri Valley and Southwest Line Chapters with his involvement in the Joint Training Committee (JACT) and IBEW Local Unions. He joined the IBEW on May 16, 1951. Sam was a Trustee on the Missouri Valley Apprenticeship Program from 1974-2001. He was a Representative to the Southwest JACT for over 11 years. Sam served on the IBEW Local 53 Pension Fund and Vacation & Holiday Committees. Sam served as Chairman of the Negotiations Committee for Local 53 and was a member of the Local 53 Labor Management Committee. Sam also served as Chairman of the Local 1525 Negotiations Committee. Sam was a member of the Masonic Lodge for many years. Sam was preceded in death by his father Gabe Carlton. He is survived by his wife Mary Holmes, a daughter, a son Ron and his wife, mother Fannie Carlton, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
