SANTEE, Neb. — Lavara "Ruth" Whipple, 80, Santee, Neb., died Wednesday (Sept. 26, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Santee Community Gym, Santee, Neb., with the Rev. David Hussey officiating. Interment will be in the Episcopal Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Henry, Robbie Henry, Kenny James, Mike Henry, Jim James and Sandy Weston.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Brockhaus Funeral Home, Creighton.

She was born May 27, 1921, in Santee to Joseph and Anna (St. Claire) James.

Survivors include her children: Anne (Harold) McBride, Lake Andes; Frank (Rozella) Whipple; Terry (Cindy) Whipple; Elia (Henry) Redwing; and Teresa (Nate) Gilpin, all of Santee; Roxanne Whipple and Dan RedOwl, Columbus, Neb.; and Vietta (Gary) Swalley, Norfolk, Neb.; a brother, Dennison James, Neopit, Wis.; two sisters, Betty Twiss, Santee, and Illa Mackey, Niobrara; 48 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter, one sister and two brothers.
