Sarah was the fifth child born to Reddin and Nancy Harrison Alford in Alabama about 1849. She married James Benjamin Ralston on January 29, 1870 in Milam County, Texas. They had five children: Matthew Reddin, Eva Gabriella, Sarah, James Thomas and Mary Isabella. Sarah Elizabeth is said to have been buried in the Salty Cemetery.

No headstone has been found. Every Family member that remembers anything about the existence of Sarah has indicated that she was buried in the Salty Cemetery. This is the community Sarah Elizabeth lived in after marriage to James Benjamin Ralston and he is also buried in this cemetery.
