The remains of Mr. Edwards, former Jacksonville resident, arrived Sunday night via the Wabash railroad, and were removed to the Gillham Funeral Home.
The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Fred Begg, and the pall bearers were Len Magill, H.E. Woodman, Robert Biernbaum, Ralph Hutchison, Curtis Templin and Louis Cain. Burial was in Jacksonville cemetery.
Mr. Edwards passed away in San Diego, Calif., last Wednesday, at the home of his son, Charles Edwards. He had been in declining health for several months.
The decedent was born in Macoupin county near Scottville Sept. 23, 1863, but his family moved to Morgan county when he was young and the majority of the years of his life were spent in the vicinity of Nortonville and Jacksonville. When a young man he was united in marriage with Miss Lena Wilson who proceded him in death 14 years ago.
For a number of years Mr. Edwards was employed by the late John Cherry in construction work in this city.
Two years ago Mr. Edwards went west to be with his relatives. He spent some time in Colorado before going to California.
Mr Edwards was a member of the Baptist church, and was a man well liked by all who knew him.
He leaves two sons, Charles Edwards, San Diego, Calif., and Virgil Edwards, Detroit, Mich., and one daughter, Miss Rose Edwards of Denver. There is one brother, Robert Edwards of Los Angeles, and one sister, Mrs. John Spencer, of near Dodge, Okla.
The son, Virgil Edwards and Mrs. Edwards of Detroit,, and Mr. and Mrs John Spencer of Oklahoma attended the funeral.
