THE KESLER-SCHLACHTER FAMILY

- John Kesler was born in Odessa Russia Jan 6 1873.

- At age 13 he emigrated to Harvey, North Dakota.

- He was a sign painter and basket weaver.

- In 1900 he married Magdalena Wentz who was born in Harvey, ND in 1880.

- Homesteaded in New Dale, AB in 1909.

- 9 children - 6 born in USA & 3 in Canada:

==Josephine Kesler born in 1901 married Joe Winchell and lived at Manning, AB

==Magdalena Kesler born in 1902 married Conrad Eckroth and lived at Yolm, WA

==Elizabeth Kesler born in 1904 married John Sauer and lived in Iron Springs, AB

==John Kesler born in 1906 lived at Manning, AB

==Katherine Kesler born in 1907 married Otto Hollor and lived at South Tacoma, WA;

==Louis Kesler born in 1911 married Winnifred Young and lived at Vauxhall,

==Victor Kesler born in 1909 lived at Taber, AB

==Eva Kesler born in 1913 is Mrs Schlachtor and lives in Westlock, Ab.

==Tony born in 1915 lived in Calgary AB where he died.

- Magdalena Kesler died Nov 22 1916.

- John Kesler remarried in 1917 to Mrs V Schlachter, a widow with 10 children. Kasper lived in Regina, Barbara lived in Vancouver, Katie (Mrs Smith) lived in Seattle, Lena lived in SK; Johnnie lived in Lethbridge, Margaret, Jack married Eva Kesler and lived in Westlock, Ab, Annie lived in Calgary, Francis lived in SK and Eva (Mrs Russel Sodden) lived in Lethbridge. There were more children from the new marriage: Doreen (Mrs Wright) lived in Spokane, William & Steve lived in Edmonton, Pauline (Mrs Neil McKay) lived in St John and Christina (Mrs Bill Schwark) lived in Innisfail.

- The family moved to Iron Springs in 1922 and John Sauer farmed there until 1930. In 1930 they moved to Manning AB and died June 9 1949.
