He was born Oct. 29, 1934, in Chilton County, the son of the late John W. Burt and the late Alison Broadhead Burt.
He was an engineer, avid fisherman, gardener and farmer. His family was most important to him, along with woodworking and rescuing wildlife.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Burt of Maplesville; daughter, Vickie Brian (Steve) of St. Simons Island, Ga.; son, James A. Burt (Julia) of Harrah, Okla.; grandsons, Wesley Burt (Jordan), Bradley Burt; granddaughters, Jennifer Brian, Callie Davies (James), Morgan Brian; and sister Carolyn Jones of Lipscomb.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lonnie Burt.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 10 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Green officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery in Stanton.
