Mrs. Zapata was a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake High School. She worked in Personnel Training, Staffing, Recruitment and EEO for over 30 years at Kelly AFB and The Pentagon in Washington D.C. before retiring from Randolph AFB. She loved reading, craft work and time on the coast.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Yolanda Elizondo; and daughter, Michelle Hillbig. Survivors: husband, David V. Zapata; sons, Steven and David Zapata; daughter, Kristina Hynes and husband, Joseph; 4 grandchildren; her father and step-mother, Delmiro I. and Nelwyn Elizondo; sister, Mary Alice Ezzell and husband, Michael; numerous nieces and nephews.
