Lucille Virginia Murphy was born in the Pungo area in what was then Princess Anne County, Virginia (now city of Virginia Beach). She was married to Russell Albert Capps, Sr. She was the sister of Ida Mae Murphy Malbon

VIRGINIA BEACH - Lucille Murphy Capps, 91, entered into eternal rest Jan. 27, 2006, in her home. She was a native of Pungo and a lifelong member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell A. Capps Sr. and son, Nelva Lee "Pete" Capps Sr.
Family left to cherish her memory include her son, Russell "R.J." A. Capps Jr. and wife Mary Sue of Virginia Beach; her daughter, Emma Jean C. Byers and husband David of Chesapeake; and daughter-in-law, Pearl Capps of Manteo, N.C.; six grandchildren, Nelva Lee Capps Jr. and wife Jenny of Virginia Beach, Tony Capps and wife Quinn of Manteo, Vernon Wooddell and wife Penny of Monterey, Va., Robin Workman and husband Carl of Chesapeake, Jennifer Dozier and husband James of Knotts Island, N.C., and Catherine Byers of Blacksburg, Va.; six great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Brandon Wooddell, Patrick and Maggie Capps and Austin and Connor Capps.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially Myra, Rae, Gracey, Ruby and Beverly. Their kindness, caring and dedication is greatly appreciated.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Maestas & Bailey Funeral Home, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today and other times at the home of R.J. Capps Jr. in Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Willowood Cemetery on Sandbridge Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 5040 Corporate Woods Drive No. 150, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
