Mrs. John Angove, Old Resident Here, Dies of Old Age
Word was received here yesterday by Mrs. Kate Edwards of the death in San Francisco of Mrs. Elizabeth Angove, widow of John Angove, former well known residents of Grass Valley. Mrs. Angove has been living with her daughter, Mrs. Bessie Hooper, in San Francisco, for the past 10 years. She has been in failing health for several months and her death is attributed to old age, as she was over 86 years old when she died.
Mrs. Angove was a native of England and came to Grass Valley in the early days with her husband. The couple raised a family of sons and daughters in this city, the only survivor of which is the daughter, Mrs. Bessie Hooper of San Francisco.
The remains will be shipped from San Francisco Thursday and the funeral will be held in this city on Friday afternoon. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
During her long residence in Grass Valley, Mrs. Angove endeared herself to hundreds of local people. She was a loving mother and devoted her entire energies to the raising of her family.
Several grand-children in Grass Valley and elsewhere survive in addition to Mrs. Hooper. Mrs. Kate Edwards is a daughter-in-law.
