Akers Funeral Conducted at Popejoy Church

Popejoy - Funeral service for Edd Everette Akers, 78, were held at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Thomas D. Hersey, pastor, conducting the services. Burial was at Oakhill Cemetery near Popejoy.

He died Thursday after a long illness.

Mr. Akers was born in Illinois on August 26, 1878, the son of John and Sara Akers. They moved to Iowa and settled near Buckeye. He was married to Clara Ahrens of Radcliffe. They farmed north of Popejoy from 1913 to 1941 when they moved into town. Mrs. Akers died July 18, 1953.

Surviving are two sons, Dale Akers, Wausau, Wis.; Maurice Akers, Popejoy; three daughters: Vera Iverson, Ellsworth; Neva Hall, Liscomb, and Alice Ellingson, Popejoy, 15 grandchildren and a brother, Frank Akers, Alden.
