INDIAN WOMAN DIED IN KELSO
Mrs. Marquerite Wannassay Cavett, 37, one of the few remaining members of the Cowlitz Indian tribe, died at the home of her mother in a boathouse on the Cowlitz river in West Kelso Saturday evening after a lingering illness. She was born on Squaw Island in the Cowlitz River, home of many of the Cowlitz Indians, and attended Kelso schools including the Kelso High School. Since her marriage she has lived, for the most part, at Lake Quinault, Wash.
She is survived by her widower, Edward of Amanda Park; five children, Bonnie Jean Wray, Goldie Wray, Helen Wray, Annie Lucille Cavett, and Edward Jr.; her mother, Mrs. Annie Wannassay of Kelso; two brothers, John of Kelso and Charles (Chuck) who is in the service and now in Louisiana; and two sisters, Mrs. Maude Snyder of Kelso and Mrs. Grace Lane of Gladstone, Ore.
The funeral arrangements are pending with the Reardon Funeral Home in charge.
