Present, 4/30 thru 10/31/1862 and Nov & Dec 1862 Rolls.
Absent, detailed on special duty "gathering up deserters" during Jan & Feb thru May & June 1863 Rolls.
Present, signed July & Aug 1863 Roll as Commanding Officer.
Present, signed Sept & Oct 1863 Roll as 1st Lieutenant, Commanding Officer.
Absent, furlough Jan & Feb 1864 Roll.
Promoted to Capt 2/18/1864.
Mortally wounded by gunshot in hip 5/10/1864 in the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, VA.; admitted 5/18/1864 into General Hospital Camp Winder, Richmond; died there.
On 7/25/1864 E.B. Boswell, attorney for the Miley family, filed a Settlement Claim.

The 27th Infantry Regiment was organized in May, 1861, and accepted into Confederate service in July. The men were from the counties of Alleghany, Rockbridge, Monroe, Greenbrier, and Ohio. It contained only eight companies and became part of the famous Stonewall Brigade.
