He was born June 21, 1918 at Macks Creek to Elmer and Ada Pearl Evans Hicks, who preceded him in death.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Archie Dean Hicks; six brothers, Norman, Racey, Lloyd, Earl, Fred and William Hicks; one sister, Hersie Williams; two half-brothers, Truman and Vinal Hicks; and his wife, Betty, who passed away Nov. 6, 1996.
He was a crane operator for construction companies.
Survivors include three sons, Archie L. Hicks Jr. and his wife, Alicia, of Conway, Stanley Ray Hicks and his wife, Sheila, of Lebanon, and Kenneth Jones and his wife, Sarah, of Lebanon; two daughters, Marie Osborne and her husband, Jim, of Hesperia, Calif., and Jean Ortega and her husband, Franco, of Pinon Hills, Calif.; five stepsons, Carl Dean, Chuck, Kermit, Bob and Wayne Atkinson, all of the state of California; two brothers, Hershal Hicks of Niangua, and Arlin Hicks of Moline, Ill.; two sisters, Ivy Buttrum, of Grovespring, and Maxine Buttrum of Springfield; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchidlren.
Services for Archie L. Hicks Sr. will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Colonial Chapel with the Rev. John Cross officiating under the direction of Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Visitation was held Saturday at the chapel.
Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers fund.
