He was born in Farming on Nov. 14, 1892, to the late William and Mary Evens and married Rose Kohorst there on Sept. 18, 1916.
He was a member of St. Wendelin's Men's Society in Luxemburg.
Mr. Evens is survived by his widow; sons and daughters, Arnold and Andrew, St. Cloud; Mrs. Irene Kotschevar, Waite Park; Mrs. Albert (Ollie) Thomas, Mrs. Harvey (Rose Mary) Woods and Lawrence, St. Paul; and Mrs. Raymond (Sally) Golden, Minneapolis; 33 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sisters and a brother, John, Albany; Veronica, Mrs. Frank (Tillie) Lemke, and Meinrad, St. Cloud. He was preceded in death by a son, Othmar, in 1973, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waite Park, with the Rev. Kenneth Thielman officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons of the deceased: Orville, Richard and Robert Evens, Arthur Kotschevar, Dale Thomas and Dennis Golden.
Friends may call at the Daniel Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
