Adeline Edna Ida Haese Berge passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 24, 1999.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday August 28, 1999, at Resurrection Chapel at Oakwood Lutheran Home. Pastor Klyve will preside. Burial will be at Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery, Valders.

She was born at home on March 12, 1912, in Reedsville, daughter of the late John and Martha (Klann) Haese. Adeline was valedictorian of her high school class at Reedsville in 1930 and received a BS degree in Home Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1934.

Her marriage to Orrin Berge on June 19, 1937, resulted in four children, John (Nancy Stolla) Madison, William (Sarajane), Wayzata, MN, Lorin (Linda) Valders, and Sara (Robert) Ehlert, Green Bay. While she raised her children, Adeline was active in volunteer work, serving as a Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader for her church circle, and “Bethel Series” teacher at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Middleton, Wis. She also was a member of the prayer chain, served as church librarian and was active in planning the 125th anniversary celebration. She was President of the American Lutheran Church Women at St. Luke’s and a delegate to several ALCW regional and national conventions. Another major focus of her volunteer work was at Madison General Hospital. She served as President of the Auxiliary, managing the Candy Stripers and the Coffee Shop.

Adeline was also a member of the Oakwood Service League and Village Apartments League (VALs) and always delighted to help with their projects In 1985, Adeline and Orrin were recognized by the Association of Oakwood Lutheran Homes for their Leadership and support. Adeline was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, room mother, chauffeur, friend, and active supporter of her children. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, furniture restoration, hand crafts including Hardanger embroidery, reading and geneology. She collected Depression and other glassware and always seemed busy with a project, helping either her family or others in some way.

She is survived by her husband, children and eight grandchildren, Kent and Keith Berge, Minneapolis, MN, Mathew, Jessica and Megan Berge, Valders, Marta, Krista and Erik Ehlert, Green Bay; her brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Beulah Haese, along with nephews and nieces, many cousins, and her sister-in-law, Irene Berge. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Quentin Haese; her brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Irma Haese and her sister-in-law, Selma Berge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe sent to Oakwood Foundation, Inc.
The family expresses appreciation to the nurses and staff at Oakwood for their tender care of Adeline and to Pastor Stan Klyve from St. Lukes for his many visits and prayers.
