My name is Lea Ann Lewis and and I have been doing my family ancestry for almost 20 years. I am a direct descendant of Elizabeth Cawley Lewis. She was married to John Lewis, both who are buried in Little Vine Cemetery, Bremen, Haralson, Georgia. They were married in Talbot County, Georgia and settled in Haralson County where John was born, along with all of his brothers, sisters and his and Elizabeth's children. One of these children was my Great-Great Grandfather William J. Lewis who married Mary Ann Long. To make a long story short, all of the Lewis, Long, Bradley, Slayton, Swann, etc. people buried there are my ancestors, including my grandparents, Roy Emmett and Annie Lee (Mitchell) Lewis. This grandfather was very knowledgeable in our family history and the name Hale is not the maiden name of this Elizabeth Lewis. We try to keep up with Little Vine and were very shocked a few years back to find that someone had replaced Elizabeth's old and rather damaged marker with a new one which says only 'grandmother'. The part that was left of Elizabeth's marker had only grandmother left in legibility. I know there is a big dispute regarding this, but I can assure you that the only reference you will find to the name 'Hale' as being her maiden name is on the death certificate of their daughter Nancy Lucinda who married a Holland. If you look at that document, you will find that the information is not very substantial.

For what it is worth, I just wanted to put forth this information.

"Grandmother"

Gravesite Details

Original stone was very worn with the only distinguishable word being 'Grandmother'; it has replaced this with a new marker. Our family has no idea by whom or why.
