John married Alice Jennings on April 16, 1815 in Methuen, Massachusetts.
John & Alice had six children: John William, Rachel, Harriet N., Maria E., Joshua Barker and Elizabeth J. After John died in 1855 his estate proved to be insolvent. Alice lost the house to foreclosure in 1857 and lived out her years with relatives. This could explain why there are no gravestones.
According to the Parish records of the Second Congregational Church of West Boxford, John Brown was the owner of Lot 44 in Brookside Cemetery. He died in Boxford in 1855 and Alice died there in 1869. Although there are no gravestones for either of them, presumably they are buried in unmarked graves in Lot 44, among their family members.
