Jennings: Funeral services for Kenneth “Ken” Chelette, 90 of Jennings, LA will be held on August 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family request visitation to be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, 25, 2014 beginning at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM and will continue until the time of his service at 11:00 AM.
Ken passed from this life, August 22, 2014. Ken was born in Deridder, LA to the late Richard M. and Hattie Riley Chelette on July 10, 1924. Ken held many positons over the years, Sales Rep. for Stedman Wholesale Grocery, Manager of Gibson Department Store, Administrator of the Jeff Davis Nursing Home for a number of years and retiring with 7UP Bottling Company. Ken was also a Deacon as well as a Sunday School Teacher at the First Baptist Church of Jennings. He was a member of Chamber of Commerce and the Welcoming Center. Ken also enjoyed being a volunteer for the Blue Angels at the Jennings American Legion Hospital. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Rice Chelette of Jennings, LA; two sons, Darrel Chelette (Terri) of Houston, TX, David Chelette (Becky) of Denham Springs, LA; one daughter, Danah Lewis of Crowley, LA; one sister, Janice Welch of Nyle, OH; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hattie Chelette; one brother Herman Chelette; two sisters, Katherine Chelette, and Wanda Nell Farque.
