Jennings: Funeral Services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 for Frances Rice Chelette, 93, who passed from this life on Sunday, October 5, 2014. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family requests visitation to resume on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 9:00 AM until the time of her funeral service. Mrs. Frances will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery with Reverend Brian Wells officiating her funeral service.
Mrs. Frances was a member of First Baptist Church of Jennings. She worked for J & B Fabric Shop for many years. Mrs. Francis volunteer as a Pink Lady at Jennings American Legion Hospital. She will be truly missed by all who know and loved her.
She is survived by two son, Darrel (Terri) Chelette of Houston, TX, David (Becky) Chelette of Denham Springs, LA; one daughter, Danah Lewis of Crowley, LA; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Frances is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth “Ken” Chelette; her parents, Oscar and Willie Rice; two sisters, Muriel Swarthout, Mildred Etheridge; one brother, Willard Rice.
Carrying Mrs. Frances to her final resting place will be John Sandiferd, Larry Vanya. Jr. Cormier, Dewey Sonnier, Gerald Gilchrist and Lane Owers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews & Son Funeral Home.
