He is the son of Mrs. Roosetta Carney of 6510 South Woodlawn Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, and the husband of Mrs. Edith J. Devereaux of 6237 South Drexel Street, Chicago, and the father of three children, Debra Ann, Reni, and Charie, all at home.
His granddaughter LaToya, says he's buried at Lincoln Cemetery, Cook Co. Ill.
SSgt. Devereaux reenlisted with the Army on 9-22-1962.
Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Deffense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal.
