OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Oct 29 1929 “Old Resident Of Stambaugh Dies”
John Alec [Axel] Abramhamson [Abrahamson], 50, for the past 45 years a resident of Iron county, died yesterday afternoon at 5 o’clock at his home on the Brule road in Stambaugh township. Death is attributed to pneumonia. Mr. Abrahamson has not been in good health for some time and the death was not unexpected.
Mr. Abrahamson was born in Sweden on December 14, 1878 and came to the United States with his parents five year later, moving to the upper peninsula immediately after landing.
For a number of years he has been following the occupation of farming.
He leaves to mourn his death his widow, four sons, Erick, Gunnard, Clarence, and Aldo, and four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Colberg, Mrs. Myrtle Smedlund and Esther and Louise, all of Stambaugh. One sister, Mrs. Erick Mattson, Stambaugh, also survives.
The body will lie in state at the Johns Funeral home until Thursday afternoon when funeral services will be held from the Swedish Mission church at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. Carl Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Stambaugh cemetery.
