Kye was born on April 15, 2011 and joined the Police Department in July of 2012. He hit the streets with his partner, Sergeant Ryan Stark, on October 30, 2012. In his time on patrol, Kye was responsible for 55 apprehensions, which included the recovery of 250 grams of methamphetamine, 17 grams of cocaine and 92 grams of marijuana. Kye also assisted in locating lost or missing persons on several occasions.
Along with his patrol duties, Kye was a member of the Tactical Unit and regularly assisted in high risk search warrants and barricaded subjects. In fact, Kye maintained a perimeter position this past Friday, August 22, 2014 while a high risk warrant was served at 6400 S. Phillips. Several subjects were taken into custody along with drug evidence and multiple firearms. Kye was stabbed by a suspect he was attempting to apprehend after a pursuit on Sunday August 24, 2014. Despite the efforts of two veterinary hospitals and staff, Kye passed away yesterday afternoon. The officers of this Department and the citizens of Oklahoma City have lost a dedicated and loyal crimefighter who protected them daily without complaint. Most of all, Sergeant Stark has lost a loyal partner and family member who will be missed greatly.
