Edward Richard Sawicki was born April 3, 1906 in Howard County to Mr. and Mrs. John Sawicki. He and Isabelle Curtis were married February 28, 1927 at Farwell and farmed there and in Greeley County until 1942, when they moved to Grand Island. He was employed in the Union Pacific Railroad shops there and at North Platte. He retired in 1971.
Survivors are his wife, two sons, Virgil of Cheyenne and Ronald of North Platte; four daughter, Mrs. Alberta Rutherfod of Omaha, Mrs. Judy Beck of Campbell, California, Mrs. Sandra Mertens of Superior and Mrs. Mary Hitchler of Grand Island; two brothers, Al of Greeley and John of Ashton, a sister, Mrs. Clara Ignowski of Loup City, 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
