Mrs. Marjorie Ann Jones, 88, Lockwood, died Wednesday March 1, 2006, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
She was born March 20. 1917, in Walnut Grove, a daughter of Arthur C. and Alice Claypool Byers. On Oct. 14, 1944, in Topeka, Kan., she married Francis A. Jones. He preceded her in death.
A 1934 graduate of Dadeville High School, she attended Southwestern Missouri State University, Springfield, University of California-Berkley, and taught from 1935 to 1942 in various rural schools in Dade County.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Lockwood Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Missionary Guild. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed homemaking.
Surviving are three sons, William C. Jones with his wife, JoAnn, Eureka, Allen James with his wife, Wanda, Lockwood, and Kenneth C. Jones, California; one daughter, Sue Frankenbach with her husband, Kevin, Hannibal; one sister, Irene Greenlee, Springfield; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, George S. Byers; and a daughter-in-law, Pam Jones.
Funeral services were at 10 am Monday, March 6, at Lockwood Christian Church with the Rev. Ron Lake officiating.
Burial was in Pennsboro Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Good Shepherd Nursing Home Alzheimer's Unit, or Pennsboro Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Lockwood Funeral Chapel, Greenfield.
