In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Beulah Adkins; and two brothers, Raymond "Shorty" Adkins & Mathias Adkins, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Gay Adkins, whom he married on July 28, 1954; his daughter, Linda Diane Adkins; two sisters and their husbands, Fredith & Winford Adkins and Flora Mae & David Lovejoy; five brothers and their wives, Guy & Dorothy Adkins, David Jack Adkins, Andrew & Glenda Adkins, Cecil Dean Adkins, & Dwane "Mickey" Adkins; and two grandsons, Omid and Amir Shooshtari. Burial at Riverview Cemetery, East Liverpool, Ohio.
