Anna (Annie) Sauer was born in Pennsylvania but moved to Egg Harbor City and lived on Boston Avenue. She was the daughter of Anthony and Louise Sauer. Anthony was born in Germany and Louise in New York.

She had three known siblings:

Willaim, DOB: 1882; Sophie, DOB: 1884; and, Anton, DOB: 1889.

Annie married George Frederick Peter Joseph on April 19, 1908, at Zion Lutheran Church, Egg Harbor City, Atlantic County, NJ. They had no children.

Annie worked as a union member in the taylor shops/clothing manufacting plants in Egg Harbor City, NJ. She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Works of America, Local #217. SS #145-09-3937.

She was known for baking the best homemade bread in town and subsidized her income with bread sales.

I remember my great aunt and uncle baby sitting me when I was very young. I loved them very much and thought of them as grandparents.

Anne and my grandmother, (George's sister Emilie),spoke in German when they did not want me to understand their conversation. I begged them to teach me German but I was told that, "I was an American I should only speak English."
